Digital Solutions for Savvy and Practical Small Businesses

First, welcome, and thanks for visiting! You’ve probably landed here because you’re facing a seemingly impossible fix to a small business website, social media profile, or online marketing issue.

If not, then you’re probably super curious on how we help small businesses at no charge.

Either way, you’ve come to the right place!

What we focus on

If you’re curious, here’s a rundown on how UGH! Media fell into the small business digital solutions arena. (It’ll open in a new tab so you can come back here.)

At first, UGH! Media focused on individual (contracted) clients vs. the entire small business sector. As time went on, though, we noticed a shift: many small business owners and some of our previous clients became (increasingly) more confident to delve in and improve certain digital solution issues on their own!

The increase in confidence and improved skill set wasn’t a surprise! How else can small businesses cut operating costs to save money and move forward?

(By figuring out issues on their own vs. immediately outsourcing online marketing services, website help, etc.!)

So why is this shift happening now?

We don’t think that there is a single answer, but we do know that since the internet has been around for 3+ decades, business owners have become more tech-savvy in general. Plus, they know how to search for (and find) answers to online marketing and digital solution issues.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, we’ve noticed a few things that haven’t advanced as quickly over the last few decades. Like, how do small businesses move forward comfortably and affordably with digital solutions (vs. forking over $15K for “outsourced” marketing help)?

(Pssst: UGH! Media helps small businesses discover digital solutions for free!)

Small businesses face many online/digital roadblocks

  • Skillset – The reality: You have to want to learn a new skill (or have some minimal interest).
  • Time – Learning a new skill takes time, and without the genuine desire to learn a new skill like SEO, website development, etc., it won’t happen. You also have to take the time to learn a new skill set!
  • Adaptability – How well you adapt to new technology or strategies in general.
  • Understanding How to Use Technology – Many companies want to become more digitized to show that they’re “up-to-date.” (Tech is here to help us become more efficient and save time!)

How we help small businesses

UGH! Media’s goal is to be the one-stop-shop for small businesses that want to solve their technical/digital problems independently. We provide how-tos, tips, tools, + app suggestions that are based on research, polls, experience, reviews, and input from our visitors.

Below are some of the areas we focus on.

UGH! Media’s Areas of Focus:

SEO

There are different types of SEO and many search engine tactics to choose from to help optimize your site’s visibility. Once you understand how SEO connects the dots between a website and search engines, many other pieces start to make more sense! Ultimately, the sooner you learn how to utilize and optimize SEO, the quicker you’ll see a boost in website traffic.

Social Media Optimization (SMO)

SMO isn’t just about filling out profile info and posting funny memes. It encompasses multiple aspects of online marketing techniques and strategies. For example, how to best share content on each social media platform. (P.S. Each network has its own context and targeted demographic!)

SMO can help determine what needs to be done to improve social media traffic to the actual social media profile or a website.

Website Optimization

Having a business website is a requirement nowadays and according to Entrepreneur magazine (as of Feb. 19th, 2016):

“46 percent of  U.S. small businesses still don’t have a website for their company, according to a report released by business-to-business research firm Clutch.”

Entrepreneur magazine

Surprised? Probably not.

The next step is to learn how to effectively optimize a website.
